Parable Of The Cautious Man
There was a very cautious man, who never laughed or cried. He never risked, he never lost, he never won nor tried. And when he one day passed away, his insurance was denied, For since he never really lived, they claimed he never died.
This poem teaches us that life needs to be risked if we are to achieve the things that we want most in our life.
Recently, I have forgotten how much as society that we don't want to take anymore risks. In other words it is because of missed opportunities it is the curse of potential. Life is meant about discovering our highest potential.
I have discovered that that the only way to reach our highest potential and to discover what could be possible we must be willing to risk even when sometimes society might shun us for our decisions. Remember that if we risk nothing, we learn nothing and we gain nothing.
It is interesting how people in this world choose to live their ordinary lives, because they are scared of could have been possible. Many people let fear run their lives only to find that they either become lonely or become bored with their lives.
Many of our lives our intertwined by how inventions and how companies were founded upon risks. If we were to look upon the many large companies that provide us our entertainment, Cinemark, Microsoft, Sony, etc. and including the many every day appliances that make our lives easier; we will discover that they inventions had to take upon risks. During the days of these conceptual inventions, many people thought that these inventors were crazy.
It interesting when the paradigm shifts then do the view points of people. It had to take one person to make it move in order for the paradigm to shift. For example, if Oliver and Wilbur Wright chose not to surpass the current paradigm that people were crazy then we would not have the luxury of airplanes.
We must reminded that taking risks to gain something that furthers our potential or our goals is NOT a bad thing. The only time it becomes bad is when it starts to cause harm towards yourself and towards other people.
People live in this world. And, the only way we can progress it is to take risks!
